This is an oil-painting in my landscape oil-painting sketchbook. It was inspired by the natural landscape: the clouds, sky, vegetation and dirt. These subjects are organic and thus present infinite variety, complexity and interest to me. There is a sense of beautiful raw energy and orchestrated chaos that captures me, and so I convey that in the form of loose, broken brush work seen on the dirt in foreground or the clouds. Clouds I find have that energy that is not quite static and so provides a great element to any landscape for energy. However, despite the loose and organic dynamic elements, nature is ever so ordered in the most subtle ways, so I took the time to carefully render individual grass blades and distant elements including a horizon line, and distant bushes and vegetation.
