My sister-in-law posed for this portrait. She was tired the morning after a late night shift of waitressing and looks beyond the viewer; to the next table perhaps. She dressed in her black waitressing uniform and wore her waitressing "bling" of pearls and silver. I pressed her to sit up straight on a tall stool so the strain of waitressing might reveal itself. The patterns and brush strokes are big and bold and match her being.
